Welcome to the second season of Matter of Fat: a body positive podcast with Midwest sensibilities! Co-hosts Cat Polivoda and Saraya Boghani highlight community voices with a focus on body size, body positivity, & fat liberation.

Cat and Saraya bring back the Fat Dish since there’s so much to dish about! The Subversive Sirens are hosting a Dive-In Fundraiser to support their competition in the IGLA Aquatics Championship, Cake Plus-Size Resale’s spring sale will include delicious pupusas from Qué Tal Street Eats, and the Radical Health Alliance is hosting a Fat Activism Salon. The classic interview features our two heroines recapping their winter hiatus from the podcast. Saraya shares a bit about her travels to Kenya and an anecdote about assumptive motherhood and waxes poetic on friendship. Awww! Cat has been very busy building out a curriculum on confidence, being a featured voice on MPR, a City Pages recognition for fat activism and changing the world (ahh heck yeah), and applying for the Real World. Wowza, what a busy time!
Don’t despair! Dirt + Discourse is back in a big way. Per usual, the discussion ventures into the world of pop culture and much of the discussion focuses on Lindy West’s Shrill and the Hulu adaptation. The ladies talk about their favorite parts, not so favorite parts, and how fat activism is growing and can lend itself to controversy and growth.
